1、 一般的名詞詞尾直接加-s 。如：
book → books room → rooms pear→pears
house → houses day → days song→songs
2、以s, x, ch, sh結尾的名詞，在詞尾加-es 。如：
bus → buses box → boxes
watch → watches dish → dishes
3、以"輔音字母+y"結尾的名詞，要先將y改為i再加-es。如：
city → cities body → bodies story→stories
factory → factories
4、以o結尾的`名詞，通常有生命的加es無生命的加s。如：
無生命：piano→ pianos radio→radios
有生命：potato→potatoes
5、以f 或fe 結尾的名詞，要將f或fe改為v再加-es。如：
half → halves leaf → leaves
knife → knives wife → wives
可數名詞複數的不規則變化：
男人女人a變e， man→men woman→women
鵝足牙oo變ee， goose→geese foot→feet tooth→teeth
老鼠蝨子也好記，ous變ic， mouse→mice louse→lice
孩子加上ren，魚鹿綿羊不用變。 child→children fish→fish deer→deer sheep→sheep
