考點一、在定語從句中way作為先行詞
考點透視：在定語從句中，如果way作為先行詞，考慮到在定語從句中用作方式狀語，故關係詞部分應用in which，在口語和非正式文體中還可以用 that，而 that又可以省略掉，所以有 in which, that或不用任何關係詞三種連接定語從句的方式。
考例快遞：
What surprised me was not what he said but _______ he said it.
A. the way B. in the way that C. in the way D. the way which
點撥：題幹中的 ...用來連接句子中兩個並列的成分，而what he said是名詞性從句，所以與之並列的也應該是名詞類，排除B、C。根據從句he said it中主語和賓語都有，可以推出關係詞作狀語，故選A，即the way (in which / that / 不填)。
考點二、形容詞sensitive詞義理解
考點透視：形容詞sensitive意思是"敏感的, 靈敏的"，短語be sensitive to...意思是"對......敏感, 對......靈敏"。
考例快遞：
The elderly need special care in winter, as they are _______ to the sudden change of weather.
A. sensitive B. sensible C. flexible D. positive
點撥：句意指"對天氣的突變敏感"，故應使用短語be sensitive to，選A。sensible明智的；flexible靈活的；positive肯定的,積極的。
考點三、by + V-ing作方式狀語
考點透視：by + V-ing在句中作方式狀語表示通過某種手段或方式（做某事）。
考例快遞：
One learns a language by making mistakes and _______ them.
A. correct B. correcting C. corrects D. to correct
點撥：介詞by+V-ing形式表示方式或手段。根據題幹中的並列連詞and可以看出by後面是兩個並列賓語，故選B，correcting與making並列。

1． 【問】break down表示"分解" 時，怎麼用？
【答】它既可以用作及物短語動詞，也可以用作不及物短語動詞；既可指物理變化，也可指化學變化。如：
A better method is to take the waste far out to sea in ships, where the wind and waves break it down. 比較好的辦法是把糞便用船運到很遠的海上，那裏的風浪會把它分解掉。（物理+化學變化，及物）
After many years, rocks break down into dirt. 許多年以後，巖石分解成塵埃。（物理變化，不及物）
另外，break down作及物短語動詞表示物理變化時，與break up同義，表示"拆散；分解"。如：
The old cars were broken down / up for their parts. 舊汽車被拆掉，以取得零部件。
2．【問】be measured in...中的in表示什麼？
【答】in表示"以......（為計算單位）"，常接表示具體單位名詞的複數形式。如：
Energy is measured in calories. 能量是以卡來計算的。
注意：by也可表示"以(某物為標準或單位)"，其後常接"the+表示具體單位的名詞（單數）"或"零冠詞+表示類屬單位的名詞"。如：
They are paid by the hour / day. 他們的工資是按小時/日付給的。
Bananas are usually sold by weight. 香蕉通常按重量出售。
3．【問】V-ing形式作結果狀語時，能不能和連詞so連用？
【答】一般不能。如要突出強調結果，有時可在分詞前用副詞thus。如：
The bus was held up by the snowstorm, thus causing the delay.公共汽車被大雪所阻，因此造成了耽擱。
4. 【問】all the way是如何運用的？
【答】all the way原指路程，意為"一路上"，也喻用於指時間、價格、程度等方面，意為"一直；始終；完全地"。如：
Prices vary all the way from 5 pounds to 50 pounds. 價格從5英鎊到五十英鎊不等。
