一、 問路大多從“對不起”（ Excuse me）開始。

2、如果你不是問一個具體的地方，但需要找到附近的銀行，地鐵站，廁所，等等的地方，那麼最好的方式就是用這樣的短語"Where is the closest_____?"
3、人們解釋事物所在地最常用的一種方式就是使用術語'blocks'。 block 是在兩個十字路口之間的一段街區。因此'the next block'意味着下個路口之後的那段街區，而three blocks ahead意味着在同一條街道上但過接下來的三個路口。
另一種表示距離有多遠的方式即是使用象這樣的短語'the third right'或'the next left'。因此如果有人説"Take the third street on the left"意思是你應該走過兩個路口然後在第三個路口左轉。
叫別人左轉或右轉的不同方式有好幾種。'Take a left'， 'go left'， 'turn left' 和 'make a left' 都代表同樣的意思：左轉。 "Go around the corner"意思是在下個街道轉身但不跨越。

五、回答別人問路（指路）的表示方法：
1．Go along the street until you come to the traffic lights. 沿這條路一直走到紅綠燈那兒。
2．Turn right / left at the second crossing. (Take the second turning on the right / left.) 在第二個十字路口向右 / 左轉彎。
3．Take a number 46 bus, and get off at the square. 坐46路公共汽車，在廣場下車。
4．It's on the corner of Huaihai Street and Xizang Road. 在淮海路和西藏路的路口。

有關語法註釋：
⑴It's only about ten minutes' walk. (D) 那兒離這兒只有走大約10分鐘的路。
it常被用來表示距離，後面可以跟表示距離的名詞短語，也可以跟“名詞（表示時間） + 名詞（表示行走方式）”，要注意撇號的位置。例如：
It is three miles to the lake. 這兒離湖有3英里的路程。
My home is not far from here. It's only five minutes' walk. 我家離這兒不遠，走5分鐘就到。
It is one hour' ride from Shanghai to Suzhou. 從上海坐車到蘇州有1小時的路程。
有時地方名稱也直接做主語：The post office is two blocks away. 郵局離這兒兩個街區的距離。
⑵. Simpson Hall is on the corner of Bellflower Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue. (T) 辛普森樓位於貝爾弗勞爾大道和大西洋街的街角上。
1)er前可用不同的介詞表示不同的位置概念，街道的拐角可用介詞on或at。例如：
There is a post office at / on the corner of Smith Street and Beach Road. 史密斯街和海灣路的十字路口有個郵局。
The dog slept comfortably in the corner of the room. 那條狗在屋角舒服地睡覺。
I was about to cross the street when a car came round the corner. 我正要過馬路，這時拐角處開來一輛汽車。
2).街道的名稱可使用avenue, street和boulevard。avenue指的是寬闊的林蔭大道，尤其指美國城市裏縱向的街道，與其交叉的橫道稱為street。boulevard也是林蔭大道。
⑶. Then walk two blocks straight ahead until you come to Cherry Avenue. (T) 然後一直向前走過兩個街區，直到切裏街。21世紀*教育網
⑷. There's a bus stop across the street on the corner of Cherry and Bellflower. (T) 在街對面，切裏街和貝爾弗勞爾大道的轉角上有一個公共汽車站。
本句中across the street意思相當於on the other side of the street。
⑸. Take a number 10 bus going down Cherry. (T) 乘沿切裏街行駛的10路公共汽車。
1).乘公共汽車, 火車, 電梯等都可以用動詞take，如後面的例子：
Take the elevator to the second floor.
My brother is going to take a ship for Wuhan.
2).分詞短語going down Cherry是修飾bus的定語。down在這裏是介詞，表示“沿着”，常和along替換使用。請看本課另一句：Then turn to the right and walk one block along Second to the corner of Orange Avenue. 然後向左拐，沿着第二街走，穿過一條馬路，到奧蘭治街的街角。
這句中的along也可改用down。又如：
The boat went down / along the river. 小船順河而下。
⑹. If you follow these directions, you won't have any trouble. (T) 如果你按照上述指引做的話，到保 羅的寓所去是沒有什麼困難的。
指路舉例：
請看下面這段文字：“走這條單行道，在第一個紅綠燈時左轉，那裏就是 Hemphill Ave. ，是一條雙線道。往下走, 你會在你的左邊看到一個加油站,。繼續走50 碼, 直到看到一個三叉路口, 右轉, 經過二個 stop sign，你就會碰到沃爾瑪（ Wal Mart）。 郵局就在 Wal Mart 的對面。而楊先生的家呢? 郵局後面就是啦。”現將這段話分解開來加以解釋。
1. Take the one-way street. 走這條單行道.
One-way street 就是單行道. 尤其在商業區, 以亞特蘭大和紐奧良為例, 其複雜的程度可以用進的去, 出不來來形容, 實在不是個愉快的開車經驗.
2. You will stay on the street for a while until you hit the first traffic light.
你會走一會兒, 直到你遇到第一個紅綠燈.
Stay for a while 通常指五到十分鐘的時間, 不會太久. 遇見某樣東西, 可以用 hit 這個字, 如 hit the traffic light, hit the stop sign 等等. 而 traffic light 也有人説成 light, 或 stoplight.
3. Then take a left. 向左轉.
向左轉可以説成 turn left, take a left 或是 Make a left. 有時光講 take a left 不明確, 你可以加上路名, 明確地告訴人家要轉哪一條路, 例如 Take a left into Hemphill Ave. 或是 Take a left onto Hemphill Ave.
4. It will be Hemphill Ave. It’s two-lane traffic. 那就會是 Hemphill Ave, 它是一條雙車道.
指路的時候如果能夠説出街道名稱是最好, 所以通常我會把轉到哪一條路的路名也指出來. 至於是幾線道一般指路的時候則比較不會提及. 雙線道是指來去各一個車道共二線道而言, 四線道就是 four-lane traffic. 像亞特蘭大的 Interstate Highway 有些地方都是十二線道, 那就是 twelve-lane traffic 夠驚人吧.
5. Come down Hemphill Ave about five blocks. 由 Hemphill 街往下走約五個 blocks. 21教育名師原創作品
英文這個部份跟中文有異曲同工之妙喔. 我們會習慣地説, 往 "下" 走, 英文也會説come "down" 或是 get "down", 這裏如果只説 Come Hemphill Ave. 聽來是不是怪怪的? 至於 block 指的是一塊一塊的建築, 外國人在指路時很喜歡用 block 作為計量的單位.
6. You will see a BP gas station on your left. 在你的左手邊你會看到一座 BP 加油站.
指路的時候除了路名之外, 明顯的地標也是有幫助的. 通常你可以指出一些明顯的建築物或是加油站來幫助對方. 加油站的英文是 gas station, 有時會簡稱 station.
7. Keep going 50 yards before you come to a fork road. 繼續走 50 碼, 直到你走到一個三叉路口.
繼續往下走可以用 keep going 這個字, 或是 continue straight 或是 keep straight 也很常用. Fork road 就是我們説的三叉路口. 那如果是丁字路口要怎麼説? 你可以説, This road will dead end into 10th Street. 就可以表達出丁字路口的意思了. 【來源：21cnj**m】
8. Make a right, pass two stop signs and you will run into a Wal Mart. 向右轉， 經過二個停車標記（Stop sign），你就會遇到沃爾瑪（Wal Mart）。
美國人喜歡説You’ll run into it! 意思就是， 你會遇到的。他們也喜歡這麼説，You can’t miss it! 就是説, 你絕不會錯過的。
9. The post office is just right across the street of it. 郵局就在 Wal Mart的正對面。
Right across the street of it 是個很重要的片語, 加上 "right" across 表示出 "正" 對面的意思. 還有一個很常用的就是在什麼什麼的旁邊, 這個要用 The office is next to it. It 代表之前已經提過的 Wal Mart, 如果之前沒有提及, 這裏也可以直接説成, across the street of Wal Mart. 21cnjycom
